                                                                                           SANKOFA

Sankofa is a word in the Twi language of Ghana meaning “to retrieve” and refers to the Bono Adinkra symbol. Sankofa is typically a term used for us to connect to our history, legacy and ancestors. This painting means a lot to me because when I reeducated myself on the rich history of my ancestors it compelled me to change the way I lived my life. One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is that the pen is mightier than the sword. Hence, I wrote a book to teach life lessons to our youth. I used acrylic paint, oil sticks, Pastel sticks. The canvas is 36x36.
